Space, time, energy – the elemental basics of creating a choreography, also the essential needs for any independent arts practitioner.

Springing from the desire to support independent artists, GreySpace is conceptualised as an incubation platform for artists to explore, collaborate and develop their ideas. The current cycle of GreySpace began in 2021 as a week of Zoom meetings, and continues this year as a 2-week residency in Singapore, leading up to a works-in-progress showing.

In 2023, the artists will work towards a premiere of fully-fledged works, supported by the Festival’s network of international partners and organisations.

Initiated by Festival Director Kuik Swee Boon, and led by curator and facilitator Anthea Seah (formally with T.H.E Dance Company), the artists involved in the residency this year are –

Residency 1:
Dreams and Death: Connections over Space

Annamaria Ajmone (Italy), Nguyen Thanh Chung (Vietnam), Pakhamon Much Hemachandra (Thailand)

*GreySpace’s Residency 1 is supported by Dance Nucleus’ ARTEFACT creative residency programme.

Residency 2:

Moh Hariyanto (Indonesia), Reisa Shimojima (Japan)

For more information on the artists, do check out the “Artists” page.
